By supporting bone strength, testosterone may contribute to the effectiveness of chiropractic care, particularly in cases involving spinal misalignments and degenerative conditions. As examples, daily supplementation with PS suppressed the spikes in serum concentrations of ACTH and cortisol that accompanied the initiation of cycling exercise in healthy, young, physically conditioned men40-45 and that followed exposure to acute psychological stress in healthy, young men and women.41-42 In these experiments, a single session of moderate- to high-intensity exercise (weightlifting,30-31,34-39 jump squats,34 rowing,37 swimming,37 cycling32-33) to exhaustion or near-exhaustion produced immediate short-term increases in serum cortisol and both total and free testosterone concentrations,30,37,39 in healthy untrained30-34,38,39 and exercise-trained men.35-37 As stated earlier, hormonal imbalances can lead to chronic muscle and joint stress that can become inflamed and lead to chronic issues. Andropause is the male version of menopause for females, which can contribute to other conditions like dementia, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. When inflammation starts to affect the muscles and joints of the male body, it can lead to issues affecting the back, hips, legs, shoulders, and neck that can cause limited mobility, muscle fatigue, increased body fat, and a decrease in bone mineral density. When this happens, it can cause the individual to be in pain and disrupt daily activities. Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin (SHBG) is a protein that binds to testosterone, making it biologically inactive. LH plays a crucial role in signaling the Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone. Some studies suggest that Tribulus Terrestris can stimulate the pituitary gland to increase the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH). In more recent times, it's often promoted as a natural testosterone booster. Patients describe how their back pain affected their ability to engage in their everyday physical activities. Zinc is believed to maintain the sensitivity of these receptors, thereby ensuring that testosterone can effectively exert its physiological effects. Zinc has antioxidant properties that can reduce oxidative stress and cellular damage. Zinc is essential for the optimal functioning of these cells and for the conversion of cholesterol into testosterone. The Leydig cells in the testes are directly responsible for testosterone production. Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is produced by the pituitary gland and is crucial for stimulating the testes to produce testosterone. By inhibiting this enzyme, zinc helps to maintain higher levels of testosterone while simultaneously reducing levels of estrogen. Tribulus Terrestris is thought to lower SHBG levels, thereby increasing the amount of free, bioavailable testosterone in the bloodstream. Higher levels of LH often correlate with increased testosterone production. Some studies suggest that fenugreek may reduce the amount of SHBG, thereby increasing the levels of free or 'bioavailable' testosterone in the bloodstream. SHBG is a protein that binds to sex hormones, including testosterone, rendering them inactive. By limiting this conversion, more free testosterone may remain in the body, enhancing its biological actions. Fenugreek has been shown to inhibit the action of the 5α-reductase enzyme, which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
